Local-Life

Local Life & Little Histories is my site dedicated to the exploration of the places, people, history, fauna and flora of the United Kingdom in both photographs and audio taken and created by - Chas Creek.
The audio normally consists of 30 minute on location programmes looking at historic locations or at wildlife from specific species to visits to the countryside & reserves.

Logo-BPL-uk

The UK’s first podcasting service specifically for the lightweight backpacker has made an incredible impact on the UK scene and beyond. Useful hints and tips and informative interviews with hikers and those from the TGO magazine.

Logo---camping-kansas

This couple are fun and obviously enjoy their hobby. Although based purely in and around Kansas in the US, it is still enjoyable entertainment. Primarily this website and video podcasts are devoted to showing interested campers different camp areas in Kansas as well as offering tips to help make camping trips a bit more easy and enjoyable.

Logo-endurance-planet

This is a professionally produced and sponsored series of programs, which are released every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the emphasis is soley for the competitive outdoors person. Adventure racers, endurance athelites, ultra runners, nutritionists, trainers and every interest in between is catered for here. A huge resource of inspiring interviews and top tips.

Logo---hiking-with-deb

Deborah Lee Soltesz is a hiking enthusiast from Northern Arizona and the South Western United States. These assorted podcasts give some background and atmosphere to the places she visits and the experiences she has. A very mixed variety of material, but entertaining none the less.

Logo--practical-backpacking

This is a new series of podcasts which has expanded from the very popular US reference website practicalbackpacking.com. Currently there's a series of long interviews with interesting guests, one of which is our own Matt Hazley. Emphasis on long distance and lightweight hiking in particular.

Logo-Tell-On-Mnt

Although not a true 'Videocast' service, but more a professionally produced series of small films, these top quality clips will have you booking up to follow in TGO John Manning's footsteps in no time! Tell It On the Mountain is a multi-part documentary series full of tall tales and alluring lore from the Pacific Crest Trail. Compiled from video diaries of those doing it, they really are a pleasure to watch.

logo---trailcast

Robert T Butler III specializes in interviews with US hikers who are walking the Appalachian Trail mostly, and each one brings their own personality and ideas behind their approach to such an achievement. There's also interviews with US manufacturers and designers, so lots of interesting concepts which may or may not work in the UK. Food for thought.

Logo---wildebeat

Steve Sergeant and Jean Higham have produced a series of programs presenting news and features to help you explore the Earth's remaining wild places. Each week, they publish a 6 - 10 minute documentary piece specifically for people who enjoy wilderness recreation. Their approach is to bring to you interesting and thought provoking content, always keen to educate and inform in a gentle US conversational style.
