In this episode we cover Day 2 and 3.
It was such a pleasure to continue our walk in fine weather, up to the bealach and then heading East along Glen Quoich past Altbethie.
It was good underfoot until crossing the burn as the landscape started to get more boggy underfoot before finally camping near Tomdoun.
Andy has similar enjoyment walking south before completing his day at the top of Glen Gour.
However on Day 3 the weather changes for all of us and things return to normal, with Scotland unloading the bitter wind and rain at us once again.
The Tomdoun Hotel is now a building site and the new owners are turning it into a residence of some grandure looking at the scale of renovations. Such as shame as the whole area now is devoid of anywhere for refreshments for anyone coming this way either on foot or by car.
We continued through the long and winding forest track towards Invergarry before cutting over the top to Laggan. A short cut, we thought which shouldn’t take long …. famous last words!
After such a fine start things slowly get worse as we have to climb a rusty deer fence, then cross and open knee deep boggy land before thankfully dropping down to Laggan. Thankfully we arrive at the Great Glen Hostel wet, but in one piece to meet up with Lee and Tony and dry things out once again.
Thanks for these Bob.
Really like the pics and (especially) the maps so I can see where you went.
Did a few walks in the hills from the Inverness to Kyle railway recently, inspired by TGO podcasts of the past. Not sure I’ll ever be ready for the full crossing tho !
