This is the concluding part in the TGOC series for 2015.
As we finally hit the East Coast and accept that it is all over, we manage to chat with several overseas Challengers about their thoughts and impressions of the largest backpacking event in the world.
Greg Lindstrom from the States, Justin Lafrance from Canada, the oldest participants Lou and Phylis Laborwit also from the States and the youngest, Melvin Den Oss from the Netherlands.
The walk is all along the road from Northwater Bridge to St Cyrus.
Time to reflect and chat with old friends and yet still make new ones along the way.
Although the weather was pretty damp that day, none of us noticed as our thoughts were elsewhere and trying to make the most of the past 2 weeks.
At the top of the sand dunes we meet others who had already been down and completed the toe dipping ritual.
Nothing else for it but to undertake the last descent.
Here’s Rose and Lee racing to get to the water?
And then without any fanfare it is all over.
Pub anyone 🙂
In the evening the Park Hotel hosts a noisy crowd, with much back slapping and much good natured humour.

Nice one, Bob. It’s been a very enjoyable listen. Perhaps the best series yet. Thanks.
Bob this has just been a joy to listen to and is the best one by far .
Really enjoyed it, good to see this back in your podcasting menu
Nice one Bob enjoyed every minute of the entire TGO. Makes doing the ironing bearable.
Fantastic listen, the whole series. Interested to hear your kit used and wondering what you do for water? Do you carry so much or use a filter or tablets?
Thanks Lisa.
I’m just in the process of completing the video to go with the series, which has taken slightly longer than anticipated. I hope to do a full run down of gear on there.
As for water, I only ever bother with filtration in the lowland areas on the last 2 days, so generally fill up at a tap and manage. The rest of the time you are high enough to get fresh stream water. There’s plenty of it up in those parts lol!!
