Well he has finally done it and in fine style too!
The first recorded barefoot LEJOG run/walk. Over 1000 miles in 38 days, traveling lightweight and totally unsupported.
It is a unique and very special challenge I think. Aleks set himself out a target and with the minimum of fuss he has stuck to his goal and achieved something using the entirety of his work holiday and all for a great cause. How very British!
As you’ll hear in the podcast, he has traveled through some interesting places in the UK, met some very generous people and stealth camped most of the way.
A true wild camp experience and a vast amount of skill and knowledge gained I’m sure.
His feet showed little of the miles covered. I expected a massive amount of hard callous skin, but this picture above was taken just as he finished.
If you enjoy this interview please add a few pounds to his coffers using the Just Giving link below. The price of a pint will all help and if you are feeling generous, the price of a round of drinks better still!
Congratulations once again to Aleks. It’s been a pleasure to play a small part in this adventure and I hope we can can get involved or support his future ventures 🙂

We always try and help those who are challenging themselves for a good cause, either on our ‘what out customers are doing page’ at backpackinglight.co.uk or/and in the podcasts. However as both my parents died from Stroke related issues, we have decided to get more involved and support Alex with kit which will make the big difference.
In particular the Vaude GUL solo tent, the Thermartex reflective blanket and the Ti Pocket Stove with the Ti Siphon alcohol stove. A super light set up which has brought his pack weight down considerably. The performance of this equipment will be vital and he will be reviewing it when he completes his task.
