Part 2 of the 3 part series form The Adventure Travel Show in Olympia January 2017, once again gives me opportunity to chat with people and groups I feel will be of interest to our audience. There’s a big wide world out there and you don’t always have to have deep pocket to see it. In fact many would agree the least you have, the more you’ll experience. Plus our January winner is announced.

Harlan Schwartz – Red Lake Outfitters – Woodland Caribou Provincial Park
The wild outdoors can’t get much bigger than this, and it surprised me at just how affordable it was, if you compare it to most week long holidays abroad. It does sound like the epic place to test your resolve and outdoor skills. Navigating, camping and survival if you want to take it that far. Failing that cruising around in Canoe could be equally appealing.

Commonwealth Office – Foreign Travel Advice
A wise reminder that all because a website says the company will take you to dangerous places, they may also be putting you on the edge of the brown sticky stuff. An interesting story from the team at the show. Without naming names, they suggested a few companies who were taking visitors to the Middle East also put their full itinerary on the website, which gave the opportunity to those wishing to do harm, advance notice of exactly where you might be at any one time. Food for thought!

Paul Roberts  – Globetrotters Club
A quirky social club for travelers of all ages and interests, worth spending some time exploring maybe?
Regular meetings in London and Chester. A club for people with anemic wallets. Shoestring travel and social club run by volunteers to share the pleasures, skills and knowledge of travel. Another one I had never heard of before, however fascinating to see them still vibrant after so many years. Worth a visit if you are ever in London or Chester maybe?

Dave Cornthwaite – The Ultimate YES man !

Dave Cornthwaite is always inspiring to talk to and knows many people who have made it their sole purpose to ‘live’ and ‘do’. Managing to keep the world of adventure inspiring without falling into the massive commercial trap which could spoil the family friendly vibe.

I’m not sure how he does it all, but he appears to do it with ease and a smile on his face. There must be a secret YES sauce in his cupboard. If Reggae Reggae sauce can make it big then why now?
